Call to Worship Psalm 47

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Prayer of Intercession

Dear Lord,

Thank You for today.  Thank You for Your continual blessings.  Teach us to live in your presence and experience eternal blessings that we will be unable to keep to ourselves.  You have done so much for us and we have so much to be thankful for.  Help us to have an attitude of thankfulness constantly on our lips.  When Your peace covers us as we face trials and tribulations let us sing praises onto You.  The best sacrifice of praise that we can offer to You is to be a faithful and obedient servant.  Teach us your ways Oh Lord so we can forever serve You.

Lord we want to take the time to thank you for our mothers on this Mothering Sunday.  We thank you for the mothers that we have, the mothers we had and the mothers that are yet to come.   Fill them with your boundless grace for they are a special gift to all our families, our homes and our communities across the world.   Let the world know how to love each other unconditionally, as a mother loves her child. Help all mothers to be like Mary the mother of Jesus who sang songs of praises to God.

Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist who was righteous in the sight of God, observing all His commands and laws blamelessly.  Hannah, mother of Samuel who dedicated her newborn child to God's service. Help us all to represent the traits that define a godly mother, patience, kind-heartedness and faithfulness especially those women who are sisters of the faith.

Lord we thank You for new mercies that we see each morning, we ask that the spirit of God will remain amongst us for now and evermore.

We know that only when you dwell in the centre of our lives that we are blessed with all things good and pure.  We ask that you remain in the centre of our lives and set Your eye over our family, friends, neighbours, the community, the nation and people all over the world.  Cover us with your grace which is filled with peace, love and happiness.

Help us to not fear about our needs, let us start our days filled with the Holy Spirit and with thanksgiving.   The Holy Spirit moving amongst us will take care of all our troubles and worries and lead us safely through these times of COVID, war, murder, kidnapping, political unrest, hunger, homelessness, unemployment, as only the spiritual protection of the armour of God can provide.

Your holy words in Ephesians 5 tells us ' to put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil' .

Let our armour be our commitment to the Holy Spirit, help us to be filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit each day to ensure we remain in Your presence.

Let us commit ourselves, our family and Elmwood church to walk in obedience and observing your laws, rejoicing your names always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Jesus name we pray.

Amen
